“Say Something” is the latest single from the forthcoming album by Portuguese singer Maria João and her OGRE Electric project. João is an internationally renowned artist who has earned her place among the greatest contemporary avant-garde singers, her unique style becoming a touchstone in the world of improvised music.
The captivating avant-garde electronic pop song “Say Something” features a beautiful text by Mozambican writer José Craveirinha. João explains: “Say Something’ is a love song about how we all need to hear something sweet from our lover to feel good and cared for. We all need to
hear something nice every now and then, wouldn’t you agree?”
The forthcoming ‘Open Your Mouth’ is João’s third album with her OGRE Electronic project. As a singer who is continually evolving, she says: “to explore, never settle and be on the lookout for new things will always be our motto, so sometimes it might not be so easy to label us. But, who needs labels anyway?”
Besides her core ensemble, consisting of fellow countrymen João Farinha on keyboards/synthesizers (as well as writing and production) and electronics wizard André Nascimento, ‘Open Your Mouth’ also features German drummer and producer Silvan Strauss.
‘Open Your Mouth’ is out on 18 September 2020.
