1 Spleen XXX - Officiel octobre 2016 Picture by Laetitia BaudryPrior to forming Spleen XXX, Stéphane and Isthmaël participated in various projects; Isthmael was a member of Love in cage and Morphoex and Stéphane, the founder of Mhönos, bassist for Rosa Crux and worked under the name of N.K.R.T.

The Spleen XXX’s first album “Poems of Charles Baudelaire” is a posthumous tribute to Baudelaire. The idea behind the project was to use Baudelaire’s poems as the foundation for the music creation. They merged cold wave and post-punk music expression with Baudelaire’s poems.

The album was released in October 2017 on Meidosem Records on vinyl and in digital format. The first single “Spleen” was released in December 2016 on a German digital compilation on the Don Quichote Records. “The possessed” was released on the double vinyl compilation “Aleatory chaos” on the Spanish label Oraculorecords in May 2017.

The album is characterized by the punchy beats, repetitive guitar riffs, post-punkish bass lines and darkly painted vocals. Although it relies on post-punk and dark wave influences the album offers the gothic rock music experience with the pinch of nostalgia.
